Message from the Principal

It is hard to believe we have completed one term already. This term saw the start of our STRIVE program and the introduction of competency based teaching and learning. This has been introduced based on feedback from students and parents to better connect students to the real world and increase engagement through students having control over the learning pathways. The selection process will commence at the start of next term for Semester Two as students move onto their next units.

We have seen students continue to excel in so many ways. We joined with Year 12 Visual Arts students from 2020 as their major works achieved outstanding recognition and have been showcased not only in State exhibitions but also local at Lake Mac Gallery. We have also seen students chosen for featured roles in Schools Spectacular and Star Struck. I encourage all parents to get along and enjoy Star Struck later in Term 2 to see our students shine.

We have seen students continue to achieve in the sporting arena. With the completion of all carnivals, all be it in a COVID adjusted manner, students have achieved at Zone, Regional and State levels. It is great to see students also excelling in their own individual sports, including ten pen bowling, tennis and many more. Emily was also recognised as the LMCC Rising Sports Star.

Our 2021 Student Leaders, including the Junior AECG have been inducted and already started to make an impact. They have worked to have the installation of water bottle filling stations and ran a fantastic Harmony Day.

During the term we received some media attention re the Basket Ball courts. Work is underway with the Tender process now in its final stages and all works to be completed by the commencement of the new financial year. We look forward to the rectification of this problem and being able to utilise the space again.

This term we bid farewell to two staff as they retired, Mrs Jameson in our Library and Ms Kelly in the Administration Office. We wish them all the best in the next chapter of their lives.

I look forward to another fantastic term at Glendale as we continue to give the students as many opportunities as possible to thrive and demonstrate their personal best.

Mr Anthony Angel - Principal
