Father Marty O'Donovan Honoring #HeroPriests

Father Marty O'Donovan (Archdiocese of Chicago '78), Sts. Faith, Hope and Charity Catholic Parish, Winnetka, IL

Submitted by: Mary Cavalier

Each weekday morning since this pandemic began, the one email that arrived without fail was the message from Father Marty reading the daily Gospel then giving a brief homily. Hearing his familiar voice and calming words gave meaning to the day! These words of wisdom were, of course, different every time and made our “Groundhog Days” unique and less depressing. As weeks turned into months we became accustomed to the monotony, but always had and continue to have Father Marty’s optimistic words greet us and uplift us. For this I am so very grateful to our dear, kind pastor!

As I sit here typing I can hear my husband, Frank, listening to Father Marty’s voice on our iPad. Now it’s my turn to listen and be consoled. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to share my gratitude for our selfless pastor. I am grateful for his leadership over all these years and the time and effort he takes to unite his parishioners.
