reaching kids where they live, learn and play.
For children who face barriers to dental care, screening events and care provided in school-based settings not only help to prevent tooth decay, but also can connect them with a dental home to establish the habits needed for a lifetime of healthy smiles!
These programs are possible thanks to caring individuals who give because they believe every child deserves to have a healthy smile!
2022 Highlights
87% of our program members provide care in school settings, bringing essential care to kids who might otherwise go without.
Schools are an excellent location to conduct screenings to identify children with emergent or urgent dental needs and connect them with a dental home.
School-based dental services help to remove barriers to care such as lack of transportation and time away from work for working-class parents.
Augusta Regional Dental Clinic in Fisherville, Virginia nearly doubled the number of screenings they conducted in the last year compared to the previous year.
“The grants and donations have been a game changer for our clinic this year,” Augusta’s Executive Director, Sophie Parson reported.
But with the cost of supplies on the rise, Sophie assumed they couldn't offer complimentary dental hygiene products to the kids enrolled in their school program.
“We simply could not include that in our budget anymore,” she told us.
“But thanks to America's ToothFairy, every child participating in our school-based program has received a toothbrush, toothpaste, and floss."
major milestone:
Since the beginning of our program, our members are on track to screen 2 million kids this year! Most of the screenings take place at schools.
When you give to support dental services like screenings and school-based programs, you help kids get ahead of oral health issues that can have a lifetime of consequences.
