Skill Transfer: Illustrator to After Effects
A lot of people can be put off in After Effects, but you mostly need to think about these things in relation to elements once you create your layers in Illustrator. These are the main 5 factors that create dynamic movement in After Effects.
- Position
- Opacity
- Anchor Point
- Scale
- Opacity
Kev took an Illustrator file and imported it, turning the fills and strokes from Illustrator into shapes which can be animated.
Quick Tip: 'R' is a quick key to add rotations
Kev demonstrated making the head of his design move by setting a rotation point (the chin) and creating key frames from that.
Kev also demonstrated how to make the movement smoother by manipulating the keyframes and reviewing the movement of the shapes.
