Located in Wendover, Buckinghamshire. Access to a fully accessible clinic in Wendover or alternatively able to perform virtual consultations or home assessments and treatments within a 1.5 hour radius.

Expert neurological physiotherapist within the field Spinal Cord Injury and Cauda Equina Syndrome. Experience in treating stroke, Parkinson’s, Multiple Sclerosis and brain injury, orthopaedic and general rehabilitation.

I am able to see clients at any part of their neurological journey, from those who are recently diagnosed, discharged from hospital or those requiring ongoing rehabilitation or a change in need.

Sally Reffold

Founder

Sally qualified as a Physiotherapist in 2003 from Brunel university. After 2 years working in an acute London NHS trust she moved to the world renowned and CARF accredited National Spinal Injuries Centre. She specialises in Spinal Cord Injuries and Cauda Equina Syndrome, providing inpatient acute care and rehabilitation. In 2009 she became physiotherapy lead for the outpatient department and readmission ward, providing life long comprehensive outpatient management programmes and community liaison for those acutely injured or established injuries.

Her specialist skills include pelvic floor rehabilitation, functional electrical stimulation (including dropped foot stimulator) and neuromuscular electrical stimulation, posture and seating, respiratory (including cough assist machine and manual assisted cough), gait re-education, calliper ambulation and orthotics.

She has presented at National conferences and taught on many internal and external study days including the Masters programme and NSIC physiotherapy course Bridging the Gap programme. In 2019 she completed the Integrated Clinical Academic (ICA) programme run by Health Education England/ National Institute Health Research exploring if pelvic floor rehabilitation can influence urinary tract infections which was published and won best poster for the Pelvic Obstetric Gynaecological Physiotherapy (POGP) journal 2021. She is passionate about rehabilitation and maximising function and independence.

Her passion and dedication was recognised and she was honoured to receive the Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS trust care award in 2021.

Her specialist interest in obstetric and neurogenic bladder, bowel and sexual dysfunction in neurological conditions has lead to development of a MDT pre and postnatal clinic and joining the social media committee as website officer for the POGP.

Sally is a member of the Health Processional Council (HCPC), Chartered Society of Physiotherapy, Multidisciplinary Association of Spinal Cord Injury Professionals (MASCIP), Pelvic Obstetric Gynaecological Physiotherapy (POGP), Posture Mobility Group (PMG) and Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Neurology (ACPIN).

Outside of work she enjoys spending time with her family, socialising with friends, travelling and keeping fit through exercise classes and running.

Face to face and virtual assessment and assessment and rehabilitation sessions provided.

  • Pelvic floor rehabilitation - neurogenic bladder and bowel.
  • Cauda Equina Syndrome (CES) assessment and rehabilitation.
  • Pre and post natal assessment for changing needs including parenting.
  • Gait re-education including the use of orthotics and calliper ambulation.
  • Functional electrical stimulation (FES) including dropped foot stimulator, neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES) and lower motor neurone stimulators.
  • Complex postural management - posture and seating, 24 hour positioning, standing and orthotics.
  • Functional mobility - transfers (bed, wheelchair, car, floor to chair etc), bed mobility (rolling, lying to sitting).
  • Balance education - sitting and standing
  • Complex spasticity management and post botulinum toxin therapy.
  • Exercise therapy including cardiovascular fitness and strengthening.
  • Respiratory - competent with clients on ventilators and tracheostomies.

Carer and family training including transfers, standing frames, manual assisted cough and mechanical insufflator exsulfflator (cough assist machine).
