Women: AAC Runner-Up, 16th at NAIA Championship

  • Milligan spent the entire 2021-22 season in the NAIA national top-25 rankings and earned an at-large bid to the NAIA National Championship.
  • The Buffs won four tournaments, including the AAC Fall Championship Preview, and had four runner-up finishes in 10 appearances last season.
Sophomore Kate Castle earned All-AAC Second Team honors in her debut season.

Men: 2nd at AAC Spring Championship

  • A strong spring semester powered the Milligan men's golf team to a No. 34 final team Golfstat ranking.
  • The Buffs logged top-three finishes in eight of 11 tournaments with two team titles.
Milligan capped its season with a runner-up finish at the NAIA Direct Qualifier/AAC Spring Championship.

HEAD COACH TONY WALLINGFORD

Coach Tony Wallingford (Washington & Jefferson ’79) enters his 31st season as the head golf coach at Milligan.

Coach Wallingford is a 10-time AAC Golf Coach of the Year award-winner and has led the Buffs to 12 AAC championships.

2022-23 STORYLINES

  • In the rankings - Milligan women's golf opens up as the No. 12 team in the country in the NAIA preseason poll. The men received votes in the opening top 25.
  • Look who's back - The Buff women return four regulars while the men welcome back three of their top five from last season.
  • AAC Golf - Three men's and three women's teams from the AAC appear in the NAIA preseason top 25.

KEY RETURNERS

Alayna Perryman

  • Graduate student Alayna Perryman became the first multi-year All-American in Milligan women's golf history last spring.
Perryman earned all-tournament honors in all nine tournaments leading up to the NAIA National Championship and was a two-time medalist.

Jonathan Liggett

  • Graduate student Jonathan Liggett led Milligan with six rounds of even-par golf or better last season.
Liggett earned all-tournament honors at the Castle Classic and Mountain Empire Intercollegiate in 2021-22.

2022 FALL SCHEDULE

SCHEDULE NOTES

  • The Buffs host the East Tennessee Collegiate at the Johnson City Country Club on Sept. 26-27.
  • Milligan's women travel to Arizona in the first week of October for the OUAZ Phoenix Invitational. 
  • Both teams will compete in the Tennessee National Match Play Challenge in October.
