Duplicate spread

Would like to duplicate a spread but have the new one follow as next page... but why does the duplicate go the the end of the document? Is there a way to copy a page and have it follow?

I don't understand your question. Can you post some screen shots of what you want, and what you are getting instead?

From the Pages panel, select the spread you want to dupe, hold down the Option key, drag to the left of the spread where you want the duplicate inserted:
