RESTORING SMILES THROUGH DIFFICULT CIRCUMSTANCES
Imagine if your child was in pain or needed dental restoration services but you could do nothing for them. For families that lack adequate dental coverage, this story is all too familiar.
But thanks to the generosity of In the Gap grant funders, kids who need extensive restorative care, specialized services, dental appliances, orthodontic care, or sedation can get the care they need instead of suffering or settling for less-than-ideal care.

reagan's story
Last year 15-year-old Reagan* moved in with his grandmother, Mary, as his home life had become too difficult to handle.
Extreme drug abuse caused his parents to separate. To make matters worse, Reagan needed a root canal to save his molar.
Although his insurance covered the treatment, the necessary crown cost more than his family could afford.
Mary was worried about Reagan losing this tooth so young and how that would affect the rest of his teeth and overall oral health.
Thankfully, Reagan’s dental care provider is a program member of America’s ToothFairy. They applied for an In the Gap grant to cover the cost of the crown and restore his smile to good health.
With his grandmother in his corner, Reagan is completing other restorative work that unfortunately had been put off in the past.
Since 2018, when we launched the In the Gap grant program, 98 kids have received essential dental care that otherwise would have been out of reach.
We are excited to reach an important milestone in 2023: $100,000 in grants to help relieve pain, save teeth, and restore smiles!
