How to Participate in the Tuesday, May 12 Laguna Beach City Council Meeting
The public will not be permitted to physically attend the upcoming May 12 Laguna Beach City Council meeting, but you are invited to observe and participate from home by one of the following methods:
1. You may submit comments on any agenda item or on any item not on the agenda in writing via email to cityclerk@lagunabeachcity.net (there is an interactive public communications form on the front page of the City’s website). Please complete the form and email the completed form to the City Clerk. You may continue to provide written comments up to 12:00 p.m. on May 12, 2020 (the day of the meeting). Please note that while these comments will be provided to the City Council on 3 p.m. on May 12, 2020, the Council members may not have sufficient time to review them prior to the meeting.
2. You may view the meeting live on Cox cable channel 852 and online on the City of Laguna Beach website: www.lagunabeachcity.net.
3. You may listen to the meeting LIVE on KX FM Radio, 104.7.
4. You may listen and comment over the phone or computer during designated public comment periods by following the steps below:

City Provides Curbside Pickup Parking for Local Businesses
The City will designate select metered parking spaces in Downtown and along Coast Highway as “Curbside Pickup” locations to assist local businesses with Stage 2 reopening plans, making it easier for residents and visitors to patronize local businesses while adhering to social distancing guidelines.
Designated “Curbside Pickup” spaces will offer free 10-minute parking at metered spaces.
In order to comply with the Governor’s existing guidance, businesses are required to deliver merchandise to the customer’s vehicle while the customer remains in the vehicle or have a set-up that allowed the merchandise to be exchanged in front of the parking space.
The program is not intended to provide short-term parking for customers to walk to a storefront.
2020 Pageant of Masters and Fine Art Show Canceled
With Governor Newsom’s announcement of a phased reopening plan for California, the likelihood of mass gatherings this summer, such as the crowds attracted to the Pageant of the Masters and Fine Art Show each year is simply not plausible.
Consequently, the 2020 Fine Art Show and Pageant of the Masters is canceled.
County of Orange Reopens Some South Laguna Beaches for Active Recreation
County beaches in South Laguna Beach (Aliso Beach, Table Rock, West, Camel Point and Treasure Island beaches) are now open from 6 a.m. - 10 a.m. weekdays for active recreation only. Thousand Steps Beach will remain closed temporarily.
Laguna Beach City beaches are open weekdays from 6 a.m. – 10 a.m. for active recreation only. All dogs must be on a leash.
Each weekday the City beaches and ocean water close promptly at 10:00 a.m. and Laguna Beach public safety staff will be present on beaches to enforce the closures.
All Laguna Beach City Offices Remain Closed to the Public.

Frontline Foods Delivers Breakfast to Laguna Beach Firefighters on International Firefighters Day
On Monday May 4, breakfast was delivered to Laguna Beach’s Downtown Fire Station 1 firefighters by on Forest Avenue by Frontline Foods in honor of International Firefighter's Day.
The meals delivered were part of over 300 prepared meals to be delivered throughout the county to firefighters and EMT workers.

City's 2020 Fuel Modification Program in Full Swing
The City experienced increased precipitation in February and March, meaning rains caused more wild vegetation, or “fire fuel” to grow in the City.
Because of this, the City has once again brought in larger goat herds as part of its 2020 Fuel Modification Program to graze on active vegetation and reduce fire risk.
The City placed the first 250-head goat herd on March 10th, a second herd of 250 goats were added on March 22, and a third herd of 150 goats was added on April 18th.
As of today, the City has three goat herds each with a herder and 650 total goats.
All herds will be adjusted in size up to 400 goats as topography, growth, and overall controllability of the goats are allowed. Additional fuel modification work done by hand crews began in April.

As the State of California continues to experience a year-round fire season, Southern California Edison (SCE) wants to make sure communities are informed and prepared as SCE implements its Wildfire Mitigation Plan.

City of Laguna Beach Takes Part in "Great Plates Delivered" Program
The City of Laguna Beach is taking part in the State's "Great Plates Delivered” program, a meal delivery service for California’s older adults.
Great Plates Delivered has two purposes:
1) Help qualifying seniors and other adults at high risk from COVID-19 to stay home and stay healthy by delivering three nutritious meals a day, and
2) Provide essential economic stimulus to local businesses and restaurants struggling to stay afloat during the COVID-19 crisis.

New Ceramics Studio to Open on Ocean Avenue
The Laguna Beach Planning Commission has granted a Conditional Use Permit to establish a ceramics studio and retail store at 450 Ocean Avenue (Artime Barro). The mother-daughter duo currently own and operate a similar business in Mission Viejo (Artime Studio).
Groups of three or less may reserve studio time to receive instruction on wheel-throwing and hand-building, and pre-made pieces may be purchased if a customer wishes to proceed straight to glazing. An open studio is also available for those able to work independently.
The business owner gave a video tour of the space during the Planning Commission meeting, which includes an interactive mural that will map Laguna Beach in collaboration with the community, with tiles, glass, seashells, and other items gradually forming a mosaic.
