Radnor Middle School Raises Over $35K at First-Ever Mini-THON April 13, 2018

Radnor Middle School hosted a six-hour dance marathon to raise funds to fight pediatric cancer from 4-6 p.m. on Friday, April 13.

Events associated with the student-led fundraiser, RMS Mini-THON, raised $35,661.50 to support Four Diamonds at Penn State Hershey Children's Hospital.

The final total was revealed at the culmination of the dance marathon.

RMS students enjoyed a photo booth during Mini-THON.

More than 220 students and staff members danced from late afternoon into the night to raise funds in the fight against pediatric cancer.

Four Diamonds Mini-THONs empower students to learn about event management and philanthropy by joining in the fight against childhood cancer.

Mini-THON is modeled after the Penn State Dance Marathon (THON). The THON motto is "For the Kids" or "FTK."

The RMS Mini-THON leadership committee included students Lillian Games, Jun Jung, Tessa Klimowicz, Paige Leflar, Michael McNicholas and Sydney O’Shea; teachers Chrisie Dougherty, Brad Lord, Megan Quarino and Jon Savitch; and RMS parent Greg McNicholas.

The money raised helps cover medical expenses for families that have children battling pediatric cancer and supports research for a cure. Last year, more than 265 schools just like RMS held Mini-THONs and raised a combined $6.4 million for Four Diamonds.

Human foosball was one of many activities planned for the evening.

Activities included line dancing, a photo booth, human foosball, face painting, gaga, hula hooping, card making, raffles and a luminary walk.

The Four Diamonds mission is to conquer childhood cancer by assisting children treated at Penn State Children’s Hospital and their families through superior care, comprehensive support and innovative research.

RMS students took selfies with a special guest, the Nittany Lion.

Special guests included the Phillie Phanatic and Nittany Lion.

Since its creation in 1972, Four Diamonds has helped nearly 4,000 children and families and supported a diverse platform of childhood cancer research at Penn State Children's Hospital, seeking improved treatments and cures to benefit those around the world.
