USA South Presidents Cup

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - Following the conclusion of the 2016-2017 season of USA South Athletic Conference competition, the final standings for the Overall, Men's and Women's Presidents Cups have been released. Piedmont College has captured both the Overall and Women's Cups while Maryville College earns the Men's Cup. This year is the 12th year the USA South will present an Overall, a Men's and a Women's Presidents Cup (Full story below).

Women's Presidents Cup and Overall Presidents Cup

Piedmont started the year by claiming championships in both men's and women's cross country before women's soccer would take home a tournament title just a week later. With women's basketball claiming the USA South Championship Tournament title in late February, Piedmont owned four of the first eight championships handed out by the league. In the spring, Piedmont softball and men's tennis would claim a share of the West Division Regular Season Championship before its baseball and women's lacrosse teams earned trips to their respective USA South Championship Games earning postseason bonus points for the standings (Full story via Piedmont Athletics below).

Men's Presidents Cup

Maryville captured the Men's Presidents Cup for the first time in program history. This is the first USA South Presidents Cup of any kind for the Scots. Maryville earned regular season championships in Football, Men's Basketball and Men's Soccer while adding bonus points from Daniel Beckett's win at the Men's Cross Country championship as well as the men's soccer team's Conference tournament title (Full story via Maryville Athletics below).

2016-17 USA South Team Sportsmanship Trophy

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The USA South Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) has announced that Covenant College has been chosen as the winners of the 2017 USA South Sportsmanship Trophy. Covenant earns its fourth consecutive Sportsmanship Trophy after picking up the Team Sportsmanship Award in five sports during the 2016-2017 academic year. 2017 USA South Don Scalf Award

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - Each year the USA South Athletic Conference presents its most prestigious awards by honoring one male and one female as the Student-Athletes of the Year. These student-athletes are recognized as recipients of the Don Scalf Award. The 2017 winners are Averett University softball player Jessica Long and LaGrange College golfer Logan Lanier (Full story below).

2017 USA South Rita Wiggs Woman of the Year

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.- The NCAA Woman of the Year award honors student-athletes who have distinguished themselves throughout their collegiate careers in the areas of academic achievement, athletics excellence, service and leadership. The USA South Athletic Conference's 2017 Rita Wiggs Woman of the Year and nominee for the NCAA award is Averett University senior softball student-athlete Jessica Long. The Conference honoree is chosen through a specific process outlined by the NCAA (Full story below).

USA South Announces 2017 All-Academic Honorees

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The USA South Athletic Conference has released its 2016-2017 Academic All-Conference Team. A student-athlete must have earned a 3.0 GPA in each of the two semesters of a given year to be eligible. Any student-athlete participating at any Conference institution is eligible thus the participant does not have to compete in a Conference-sponsored sport. This season, a record 1,687 student-athletes earned Academic All-Conference honors (For full list of Academic All-Conference members, use link below).

2017 USA South Hall of Fame

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The USA South Athletic Conference is pleased to announce its 2017 Hall of Fame Class. The 2017 class includes three former student-athletes and one current coach. Averett University, Christopher Newport University and N.C. Wesleyan College are each represented in this year's class. The inductees will be officially honored and recognized during a ceremony on the campus of Averett University on Monday, June 12, 2017 (Full story below).
