Laguna Beach Firefighters Deliver 600 Masks to City's Essential Workers

Monday morning, as part of our ongoing commitment to protect our local community and slow the spread of COVID-19, our Laguna Beach Firefighters teamed up with www.facemsk.co to provide 600 custom Laguna Beach Firefighter Association masks to our communities essential workers and most vulnerable.

Firefighters distributed masks to the following: Alternative Sleeping Location, Sally's Fund, Glennwood, Ralph's, Pavillions, Youth Shelter, the Laguna Beach Community Clinic, and local pharmacies.

Last week, the City Manager issued an emergency order that all employers of non-medical essential businesses require their workers wear cloth face coverings that shield their noses and mouths while at work to help slow the spread of COVID-19.

Requiring all Essential Workers wear facemarks is an additional level of protection for both our residents and those still on the frontlines providing food and critical services to our community.

Sunday night, the Laguna Beach Fire Department cheered and encouraged doctors, nurses, and hospital staff during the shift change at Mission Hospital! Watch the video below.

Thank you to ALL of our First Responders on the frontlines fighting COVID-19!

Recent guidance by the California Department of Public Health states ALL Californians who must leave their homes to conduct essential activities should wear face coverings if they feel comfortable doing so.
The CDC has an informative page on cloth face coverings to help slow the spread of COVID-19, including guidance on how to wear to them, make them and wash them. Find out more by clicking HERE.

California, Oregon & Washington Announce Western States Pact

California Governor Gavin Newsom

Today, California Governor Gavin Newsom, Oregon Governor Kate Brown and Washington Governor Jay Inslee announced an agreement on a shared vision for reopening their economies and controlling COVID-19 into the future.

There are three guiding principles: Our residents’ health comes first, health outcomes and science – not politics – will guide these decisions, and our states will only be effective by working together.

Rain Surge Helps Mosquitoes Emerge

With recent rain showers falling around Orange County, vector control experts stress the need for residents to take an active role in mosquito control by checking their property and eliminating any standing water. Even a bottle cap full of water can breed mosquitoes.

The new coronavirus CANNOT be transmitted through mosquito bites.

According to the World Health Organization, to date there has been no information nor evidence to suggest that COVID-19 can be transmitted by mosquitoes.

COVID-19 is a respiratory virus which spreads primarily through droplets generated when an infected person coughs or sneezes, or through droplets of saliva or discharge from the nose.

5G Mobile Networks DO NOT spread COVID-19

Here's a myth buster for you: according to the World Health Organization, viruses cannot travel on radio waves/mobile networks. COVID-19 is spreading in many countries that do not have 5G mobile networks.

COVID-19 is spread through respiratory droplets when an infected person coughs, sneezes or speaks. People can also be infected by touching a contaminated surface and then their eyes, mouth or nose.

Laguna Beach Community Holds Pop-Up Easter Parade Sunday

Laguna Beach residents are a festive bunch! Laguna Beach mom Cara Holtschneider decided to take what normally would be a morning of Easter egg hunts and brunch with friends and family and decided to have an Easter car parade.

A dozen or so cars and dozens of families turned out for the parade that started in the Top of the World neighborhood and traveled through the Laguna Village, Bluebird Park and Arch Beach Heights neighborhoods.

Laguna Beach Restaurants Are Offering Takeout and Delivery

Due to the closing of our restaurants, the Laguna Beach Chamber of Commerce has compiled a useful list of restaurants throughout the city who offer take out and delivery options.

This is a very crucial time during this unprecedented event- which is why our local businesses, especially our restaurants, need us now more than ever.
