Upcoming Overnight Road Closures on Coast Highway at Main Beach Include:
- Tuesday, April 13 from 8:00 p.m. until 8:00 a.m. while crews work to remove the existing sewer lines and construct a bypass. and replace the existing sewer pipes
- Friday, April 16 from 8:00 p.m. until 8:00 a.m. to install the precast box culvert sections
- Saturday, April 17 from 8:00 p.m. until 8:00 a.m. to remove the sewer bypass and replace the existing sewer lines

Laguna Beach Police Rescue Stolen Dog and Reunite Him With Owner
On Sunday night, an officer responded to Ralph’s in Laguna Beach after a report of a stolen dog. The dog owner had tied his 3-year-old Lhasa Apso “Beauderaux” to a bike rack and entered the store, but when he left, sweet Beauderaux was missing.
Store employees reviewed the surveillance camera and in it an intoxicated man was seen taking Beauderaux and driving off a silver sedan.
Shortly thereafter, dispatchers received a call reporting an intoxicated driver leaving a restaurant in the north portion of Laguna Beach, walking towards a grey Honda. Officers quickly located the Honda and stopped the driver in the 300 block of Cypress Drive.
Officers found scared little Beauderaux in the stopped vehicle and whisked him off to safety. The stolen dog was quickly reunited with his emotional and grateful owner.
The driver was charged with DUI and felony theft of the dog. He was later transported to Orange County Jail.
Give the Phone a “Break:” April is Distracted Driving Awareness Month
April is Distracted Driving Awareness Month, and the Laguna Beach Police Department encourages drivers to give the phone a break and focus on the road.
Throughout the month of April, Laguna Beach Police Department will have additional officers on patrol specifically looking for drivers who violate the state’s hands-free cell phone law.
Under current law, drivers are not allowed to hold a phone or other electronic device while behind the wheel. Drivers under 18 are not allowed to use a phone for any reason, including hands-free.

Be Coyote Aware
Like most communities located in semi-rural areas, Laguna Beach has active coyote populations. Recently, residents have reported spotting coyotes in the City on Nextdoor.
Animal Services recommends that pets not be let outside during evening hours unless the owner is next to the pet to prevent a coyote attack.
If you have any concerns regarding wild animals, or see a coyote in a residential area, please call Laguna Beach Animal Services at (949) 497-0701. You may also report coyote sightings to coyotes@lagunabeachcity.net.
