OMAHA ATHLETICS REWIND sept. 10-16, 2018

MEN'S SOCCER

The Omaha men's soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision at No. 11 UCLA last Wednesday. Diego Gutierrez led Omaha with two shots and a goal. Goalkeeper Ugo Tritz made three saves in the match.

WOMEN'S SOCCER

The Omaha women’s soccer team opened the week with a 3-1 loss to Ball State. Emily Romero scored her first goal of the season, and Bailey Cascio earned her first assist of the year. Goalkeeper Erin Bunker made five saves in the match.

On Sunday, Omaha lost 2-0 at Illinois State. Cascio had a game-high three shots on goal. Tabitha Allberg, Sophia Roux and Cydney Skinner each had two shots. Goalkeeper Ina Gudjonsdottir made four saves.

VOLLEYBALL

The Omaha volleyball team went 1-2 at the CEFCU Classic. Anna Blaschko earned all-tournament recognition.

Omaha split its matches on the opening day of the tournament. In a 3-1 win over Milwaukee, Sydney Case had her fourth 50-plus assist match this season, and Blaschko had a career-high-tying 17 kills on .500 hitting. In a 3-2 loss at Bradley, Blaschko had her second career double-double with 11 kills and a career-best 13 blocks.

On the final day of the CEFCU Classic, Omaha fell in three sets to Eastern Illinois. Sadie Limback had a team-best nine kills and three blocks while Blaschko followed with seven kills and four blocks.

CROSS COUNTRY

Emily Johnson led the Omaha cross country team for the second straight meet as the Mavericks took 12th at the Woody Greeno/Jay Dirksen Invite at Nebraska last Saturday. Johnson ran a time of 22:21.3 over the 6K course to finish 23rd in the field of 142 runners. Omaha's other scorers were Anita Jenkins, Heidi Hall, Ivanna Uribe and Lauren Houston.

WOMEN'S TENNIS

The Omaha women's tennis team traveled to the Drake Invite last weekend for its second fall tournament. The Mavericks' weekend was highlighted by nine combined wins in doubles play over the three-day span. The team of Emily Behling and Marie Kapelevich won the Doubles Flight B title with three straight wins.
