- 1993 Inequities of salary and rank reported by the DOM Task Force on Internal Medicine Women Faculty to DOM chair; Salaries were adjusted to resolve inequities
- 1994 Formation of Society of Medical Women Faculty (SMWF), inclusive of the entire School of Medicine

Estelle Ramey Award
Established in 2000 to honor faculty who have provided excellent encouragement, support and mentorship to GUSOM/MGUH women
- 2002
John Eisenberg Memorial Career Development Award
Established to send four women faculty to the AAMC Women Faculty Professional Development Seminar annually
- 2008
Karen Gale GWIM Outstanding Achievement Award
Established to honor women faculty within GUSOM/MGUH who have demonstrated outstanding achievement through research, education or service
- 2017
School of Nursing & Health Studies (SNHS) Mentorship Award for Women in Health Studies
Established to acknowledge mentoring as a valuable skill in which a faculty member serves others in promoting their professional achievement, development, and socialization into the academic role and community

- Reception to recognize two newly appointed chairs at the Medical Center: Michelle A. Roett, MD, MPH (Family Medicine) and Edilma L. Yearwood, PhD (Nursing & Health Studies)
- 2004 Newly created Committee on Faculty Affairs formed, with appointment of a GWIM past-president as its chair
- 2005 SMWF name change to Georgetown Women in Medicine (GWIM)
- 2006 In collaboration with the Committee on Faculty Development, the Medical Center established the position of Associate Dean for Faculty Development
- 2008-2009 Committee on Salary Equity met 6 times to identify salaries that appeared to be “out of line ” in regards to salaries at Georgetown University School of Medicine
- 2012 GWIM supports "The Cloaking" by Suliman EL-Amin, a positive and diverse depiction of the white coat ceremony
- 2014 GWIM Commemorates 20th Anniversary
- Recipient of national AAMC Women in Medicine Leadership Development Award a second time
- 2015 A Global Health Elective Addresses Georgetown Resident Team and Cameroon Host Expectations: A Ten Year Comparative Analysis of Evaluation Surveys, 2004-2013 is published in Journal of Internal Medicine and Primary Healthcare by past President Dr. Cole
- 2016 “100 Current Women Professors” campaign goal reached

At the annual retreat, GWIM members collaborate to develop goals for the coming year.
Women on the Walls
- The Women on the Walls campaign represents and recognizes prominent women leaders at GU School of Medicine
- Female representation in portraits inspires and motivates other women to aspire to leadership roles and positions of authority
- Portrait of Dean Joy Phinizy Williams, funded by Dr. Stephen Ray Mitchell, Dean for Medical Education
- Inaugural GWIM commissioned portrait, funded by GUMC, to be unveiled at the GWIM 25th anniversary event
- Second GWIM commissioned portrait to be funded by MGUH

GWIM looks forward to another 25 years of commitment and ambitious advocacy for the advancement of women in medicine, and women everywhere by fostering the creation of a pipeline of future leaders.
