Local people hold the key to healthy forests, Lao PDR
Bounchanh Lattanavongkot, Chief Deputy of the Provincial Forest Department in Luang Prabang and Manager of the Luang Prabang Teak Management Office Laos PDR, explains how being part of RECOFTC’s regional learning network has allowed him to promote equity in forest protection and the need to share forestry benefits.
Using participatory approaches to address conflict in Viet Nam
Nguyen Khac Lam, from the Nghe An Forest Protection and Development Fund, uses participatory and bottom up approaches in transforming forest conflict. Over the years, Khac Lam has attended many RECOFTC trainings which have contributed to his ability to effectively manage conflict in forested landscapes in Vietnam.
Teaching participatory approaches to Thailand's future foresters
Dr Rachanee Pothitan, Asst. Professor, Faculty of Forestry, Kasetsart University, Thailand shares how RECOFTC trainings have helped her grow as a forester and professor, and ensure that the importance of community forestry is passed on to Thailand's next generation of foresters.
Ibu Ida sparks conversations in Indonesia
Kusdamayanti, or Ida, is a trainer at the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, in Indonesia. Ida’s learning journey as a trainer transformed her from a conventional lecturer to an experienced participatory facilitator who has enhanced the effectiveness of the Minstry’s training programmes and mobilized local communities to participate in forest management.
