When I first shared a post about Denny's on my (personal) Facebook wall, an American (or at least that's what he likes to be called, and that's what his visa tells him) commented on my post with an unlikely tone. He said that it's not where he would like to be seen since in the US, truck drivers would usually be the ones hanging out in this joint. Sure, let's call him as someone who lived and grew up in America, but how would a guy like him be so disgraced seeing himself in a place like this?
Or maybe he just didn't know that Denny's has been operating non-stop for sixty years, with over one thousand seven hundred (1,700) locations in 14 countries and US territories. Based on their website, it actually started out as a donut stand called Danny's Donuts, and after a few more changes with the names, the Denny's brand has stayed ever since. As much as I would like to reply back to his comment and say that Denny's has got more balls than him, I got more satisfaction by deleting his comment on my personal wall instead.
And now that Denny's has been operating in Manila for over a month now, people all over the city still can't help but visit this American diner which actually has more of a fun and hip vibe than the ones you would see in the US; according to my friends who have visited Denny's in other countries, the branch in Manila is a more 'sosyal' version, since it's located near one of the more high-end clubs in the city. Denny's Philippines promises to give their guests a taste of real American diner food, including a few Filipino breakfast favorites and comfort food. All these, all day, err day!
The Bistro Group brings Denny's to the Philippines where they plan to open ten more Denny's branches over the next ten years across the country. at the time of writing, I already saw a new branch in Nuvali.
Here's what i've tried in denny's so far:
and here are more recommendations when you visit denny's soon!
Denny's Philippines, however is still on soft opening, so I think that that they still need to get used to the way diners should operate, particularly on improvement of preparation times, since I know that food in diners are supposed to be fast. Then again, you might see me at Denny's While I enjoy some coffee, scrambled eggs and toast, which is basically my what I would want on a lazy day.
