A Taste of Ippudo's Kuro Ramen and other seasonal offerings from the ramen giant who conquered the world

I love ramen, but personally I haven't tried all kinds of ramen yet except for a few ones available here in Manila. But I love how each slurp is comforting, almost to a point where a bowl of ramen relieves you from the harsh elements of nature and life.

Eating ramen shouldn't be by the book as there are no hard rules, except that you have to devour it in less than 20 minutes for you to have the ultimate ramen experience (which isn't hard thing to do if you ask me).

Personally, eating ramen at Ippudo is some sort of a ritual. You have to have gyoza or pork buns on the table while you wait for the hot, steaming bowl of goodness that's about to be served.

And when Ippudo comes up with a new kind of ramen, you just have to save a date so you can try it. KURO means 'black' in Japanese, and it captures Ippudo's latest ramen creation which recently hit their Manila stores a few weeks ago. Simply put, Ippudo's newest ramen is made from their signature tonkotsu broth, spicy garlic and black pepper spices (making the broth black), Akamiso paste, shio tamago and nori.

The best part? Ippudo's Kuro Ramen is topped with a perfectly torched chashu for an added smoky barbecue flavor. It's just genius.

And then they add other new additions on the menu, like this SEAFOOD OKONOMIYAKI which is Ippudo's spin on a classic Japanese snack. This sizzling pancake is stuffed with squid, cabbage and the most succulent shrimps that you can have on top of an Okonomiyaki.

Another addition is the TORCHED GYUTAN DON, made with melt-in-your-mouth Australian beef tongue topped with shredded egg, nori, and drizzled with Yakiniku sauce and mayonnaise on a bed of perfectly steamed Japanese rice.
