#mixedfeelings at Freezer Burn PH Along Bonifacio High Street

According to Wikipedia, the term 'freezer burn' is a condition that occurs when frozen food has been damaged by dehydration and oxidation, due to air reaching the food.

But in Manila, specifically along Bonifacio High Street, the term Freezer Burn is totally different.

Freezer Burn the newest dessert shop in BGC which opened a few months ago and is creating waves and raves from foodies near and far.

Freezer Burn is the latest food concept from the Tasteless Group, the same team behind other foodie spots in Manila such as Hole in the Wall, Le Petit Souffle, Wrong Ramen and my favorite chicken sandwich joint, Fowl Bread (which also happens to be situated a few steps beside Freezer Burn)

the store

The store is quite small, and is more of a take-out shop than a dine-in spot. There are small, long tables on the sides inside, and nothing more than 10 seats outside. This is basically why the place looks so 'packed' even when they only have a few customers at certain times of the day. However, when I visited the place, there were certainly a lot of people getting their orders and taking photos inside ans outside the shop.

the menu

You can choose from their crazy ice cream flavors available in scoops and shakes, or for a totally unique dessert experience, then you should try their composed desserts.

It's the ultimate sweet treat with a side of #hugot --- warm and cold. sweet and salty. so many #mixedfeelings :)

Freezer Burn establishes the concept of combining cold and warm temperatures in their desserts and took it with a whole lot of creativity.
ICE CREAM ONLY MENU
ICE CREAM SHAKES AND FLOATS
Outrageous, witty, but personally, quite risky. The Ketchup and Mayo Ice Cream is one of the most unusual things I've ever tasted.

And Freezer Burn pulled it off.

They also have a variety of toppings to go along with your chosen frozen or composed dessert.

what i tried

G'DAY MATE - Butter Ice Cream + Sticky Date Pudding
It's a marriage of something sinfully sweet and cold and something sinfully sweet and warm.
Ketchup-Mayo-Fries --- Ketchup and Mayo Ice Cream + Salt and Pepper Fries
Personally, it was an adventure, but not something I'd go back for because I get selective when it comes to my mayonnaise intake (but I love dipping fried food in mayo, so I guess the salt and pepper fries sure did its job)
MORNING GLORY --- Maple Bacon Ice Cream + Brioche Toast and Popcorn
The Morning Glory is my personal favorite! I love how the toasted and sweet Brioche mixed with the cold maple bacon ice cream! It's a perfect blend of hot and cold, sweet and salty!

I also tried the following composed desserts listed below, but due to the humid weather, I spared no time to take photos of the desserts, but gobbled them all up instead.

  • THICK MINTS - Mint Stracciatella Ice Cream + 5 bite Brownies and extra chocolate in a syringe (THUMBS UP!)
  • OLAI - Chocolate ice cream + Churros (TOO CHOCOLATEY FOR ME)
  • BBPPBB - Browned Butter Pecan Ice Cream + Peanut Butter Waffle Liege and torched bananas (SOMETHING I'D HAVE FOR BREAKFAST)
Visit Freezer Burn soon and find out why a lot of people are going crazy over their desserts!
